Green Superfood Smoothie
-2 handfuls of spinach (or baby kale)
-1 cup almond milk or organic grassfed milk
-1 tbsp chia seeds
-2 tbsp sesame seeds
-1 tbsp coconut oil
-1 tbsp spirulina
-1 cup ice
Why we love this smoothie:
This is the perfect Post-Pilates snack, or a great way to start your day! We love the superfood qualities, and slight sweetness of this smoothie.
Why it is a “Superfood” Smoothie:
Spinach: Increases energy, improves bone health and assists in healthy blood flow. It is high in iron, vitamin K, A, C and folic acid. Don’t forget it is a also good source of magnesium and vitamin B2 + B6!
Banana: Rich in fiber, potassium, vitamin B6 and vitamin C. Bananas can help even blood sugar levels, and combat hunger!
Organic Grassfed Milk: Rich in vitamin B12, vitamin D, iodine, calcium, and more! We chose to use real whole milk to add nutrients to our smoothie. It adds a yummy creamy texture to the smoothie! Feel free to add your favorite Almond Milk, if that is what you prefer!
Chia Seeds: Offers sustainable energy and nutrients in low caloric amounts. Some specific nutrients in chia seeds include fiber, protein, healthy fat, calcium, manganese, magnesium and phosphorus. Chia seeds are loaded with goodness!
Sesame seeds: Prevents high blood pressure + protects the liver. Sesame seeds are rich in copper, manganese, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, and fiber. They also add a nutty flavor!
Coconut Oil: Coconut oil is hot these days – for uses in cooking, consuming, nourishing hair + skin, and in the home. There are so many reasons why coconut oil is a fabulous product to be using in your life, however, we like to consume it in our smoothie because it helps with digestion, provides a fantastic source of healthy fats, and it supports and immune and hormone health.
Spirulina: Protein, vitamin B1, iron and calcium are some of its properties. Also, Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) provides anti-inflammatory agents, levels blood sugar, helps fight allergies, and contains chlorophyll to fight off toxins in your body. Talk about a superfood!
Ice: Just for a fresh addition and cold kick to your smoothie!
